Paralegals and junior associates face the clearest pressure, as their work is disproportionately the structured, high-volume tasks AI handles well. Legal research assistants, contract reviewers, and e-discovery specialists are all seeing role compression.

High-value legal work - courtroom advocacy, complex negotiation, novel legal strategy, client relationships - remains resistant. The bar exam test of AI capability shows consistent performance at the median attorney level, suggesting meaningful competence on structured legal reasoning, but client trust and professional accountability structures will slow displacement in core legal practice.
